Climate change is not a buzzword. Climate change is a reality, it has consequences, not only in the environment also in our societies, in our economy, in our countries, in our lives.
I had the pleasure of talking with a world opinion leader, Alexander Verbeek, who from the Netherlands shared with us his point of view of what we are currently facing with climate change and global warming.
Alexander Verbeek is a Dutch environmentalist, public speaker, diplomat and former strategic policy advisor at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Over the past 29 years, he has worked on international security, humanitarian and geopolitical risk issues, and the linkage to the earth’s accelerating the environmental crisis. Currently, he works as an expert speaker and advisor on a planetary change to academia, global non-governmental organizations, private firms, and international organizations.
Verbeek mentioned that all size of companies are taking actions about Climate Change such as Patagonia, IKEA, Sierra Club among others, however, a good example of a smaller sustainable company is Semilla Sanitation Hubs, this startup modules form a closed wastewater treatment unit, using advanced space technology to convert sanitary wastewater into clean water and fertilizers for food production.
Alexander shared with us a story of Ntonya Sande, a teenager from Malawi and how climate change affected her life at the age of 13. Read an interesting article published in The Guardian
Also, he mentioned the great example of Greta Thunberg, and how 16 years old climate activist girl is taking action about Climate Change.
